Dependable Set Building, in a professional studio.

We build room sets, simple flats and bespoke backgrounds all in-house.

Flexible Studio Set Solutions

Set building within a production studio gives brands and creative teams the flexibility to construct tailored environments that support stronger storytelling.

Whether producing advertising campaigns, branded content, stills photography, or short-form video, custom-built sets allow productions to achieve distinctive looks without the unpredictability and logistical costs of location shooting.

We can provide studio space, and set building services that use only the materials we need, and the props you choose.

We’re here to ensure what is built is highly adaptable to different budgets, with scalable solutions ranging from simple modular backgrounds and styling elements to fully immersive constructed rooms.

As demand increases for fast-turnaround, multi-platform content, cost-effective production solutions have become more important than ever. Studio-based set builds help maximise efficiency by reducing travel, minimising downtime, and enabling multiple campaign assets to be captured within a single controlled space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Set Building is the industry term used to describe the job role of the person who plans, sources materials and constructs a room set (or similar), usually inside a production studio.

They are typically multi-skilled, and efficient, at putting together a temporary structure of a room or space that looks real for the purposes of photography or video.

Set building can be achieved in the low to mid hundreds.

However most constructions often cost more if they require more than two walls, and need windows, doors and decorating.

It’s always best to provide an accurate cost based on a brief.

A set builder will ask for information on set size, complexity and design at the beginning of a project.

Usually most requirements can be catered for!

There are situations where it may be better to shoot on location, or the complexity & material costs involved push budgets too high – but for most builds it’s possible to get the look needed.

We can lay flooring, and carpets. We can construct walls, doorways and windows. Skirting and architrave are all fine. We can add panelling and furnishings, including shelves and custom shapes, too.

It’s best to allow one or two days, as a minimum.

Whilst the main construction is about a day, room sets often need painting, and styling, which adds more time.

We’re always open to being efficient, and all budgets are catered for. It’s always worth getting in touch, as there may be creative solutions for simple builds we can provide, or flats and backgrounds we already have made up, in storage.

Larger and complex builds require multiple days.

We manage all the logistics, including set strike.

After the production has finished, and the studio is clear, we take down the set.

Wherever possible we’ll store or recycle the materials. There is usually a small amount of wastage for single use projects though, and we will contact local businesses who can remove these items to the nearest recycling centre for wood, metal and ceramics.
